The Huntsman- - Winters War
Here’s a concise breakdown of the story for (2016), a prequel/sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman . Setting the Stage (Prequel part) Long before Snow White, the evil Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron) conquers a kingdom. Her much younger sister, Freya (Emily Blunt), falls in love, has a child, and lives away from Ravenna’s cruelty. But tragedy strikes: Freya’s lover kills their baby. In a fit of grief and rage, Freya’s latent magic erupts—freezing the entire kingdom. She then retreats to a frozen fortress, becoming the Ice Queen , forbidding love in her domain because she believes love leads to betrayal and loss. The Huntsman’s Origin Freya builds an army by stealing children and training them as soldiers. Two of her best huntsmen are Eric (Chris Hemsworth, the Huntsman from the first film) and Sara (Jessica Chastain). They break Freya’s most important rule: they fall in love. When Freya discovers this, she forces them to fight to the death. Eric refuses, and Sara is seemingly killed. Eric escapes, and the first film’s events (Snow White vs. Ravenna) happen in between—though this movie mostly ignores the first film’s details. Main Story (After Snow White’s victory) Years later, Snow White now rules. Freya learns Ravenna’s magic mirror has survived. If Freya retrieves it, she can unite the Ice and Dark magic to rule everything. Snow White sends Eric to destroy the mirror before Freya gets it.
