Tal 39-dorei Campaign Setting Reborn -

System , he thought bitterly. This is the system.

He wasn't here to free them. Not today.

No replacement. The ember has spread. The system is reborn.

But tonight, the distraction was different. tal 39-dorei campaign setting reborn

For one breath, there was silence.

And in the Spire, a thousand leagues away, the Silent Ledger received a single update:

He moved at dusk. The mine gate was a rusted jaw of iron teeth. Two guards, bored, sharing a pipe of dream-weed. Kaelen didn't draw his blade. He simply walked up, calm as a ledger-keeper, and placed his palm on the gate. System , he thought bitterly

The gate didn't break. It wept . The iron softened, rust flaking like dried blood, then liquefied into a waterfall of red mud. The guards stared. Their screams died when the mud rose and swallowed them whole. Kaelen walked through the slurry, his skin cracking with the effort, old wounds reopening. He was bleeding from a hundred places that had healed years ago.

Lirien turned to face the onrushing guards. His body was failing—the poison, the released pain, the years of debt finally coming due. But he had enough for one last transfer.

"The Guild can burn," Kaelen said. And for the first time in three years, he said his real name. "I am Lirien, Ember of the Ash-Veil, son of a free people who do not yet know they are free." Not today

He unspooled it.

"Tal 39," a voice rasped from his shadow. Vex, his handler—a woman made of old scars and older bitterness—stepped beside him. "The client wants a distraction. You burn the front gate. The real package goes out the back."
