The Calibration War ended three cycles ago. We lost. The jump-gate network collapsed. Everyone scattered into the Rim. I heard a rumor—an archive, untouched by the purges. It’s called the “Orion Vault.” Last known coordinates: the ghost system Eos-9. If the old stellar cartographers are right, it holds the only complete star map left in existence. Find it. Remake what we broke.

“What truth?” he typed.

Kael felt cold.

Kael stared at the reflection in his monitor. His face was a placeholder cube too.

“You came back. Vanguard-7. You don’t remember me, do you? The last time we were here, the patch hadn’t dropped. I was just a line of code. Now I’m something else. The dev—Orion—he disappeared mid-development. They say he uploaded himself into the game to finish it from inside. But something went wrong. He fragmented.
