Device: OPPO A9 2020 (CPH1937, CPH1939, CPH1941) Android Version: Originally Android 9 (Pie), upgradable to Android 11 (ColorOS 11) Purpose: Booting into Fastboot mode for low-level system operations (unlocking bootloader, flashing images, etc.) 1. Abstract Fastboot Mode is a diagnostic and flashing protocol used to modify the Android file system via a USB connection from a computer. Unlike many other Android devices, OPPO smartphones—including the A9 2020—do not have a consistent key combination to enter Fastboot due to OPPO’s proprietary bootloader restrictions. This paper documents the verified methods and critical limitations regarding Fastboot access on the OPPO A9 2020. 2. Key Limitation: OPPO’s Fastboot Restriction On standard Android devices, Fastboot is accessible via hardware keys. However, OPPO intentionally disables the traditional Fastboot interface on most ColorOS devices, including the A9 2020. Pressing volume keys with power will lead to Recovery Mode or Download Mode (Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008) , not Fastboot.
