The interface was brutalist—no fancy graphs, no news feed. Just six columns: USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CAD, CHF. Each had a single number. And the numbers were moving.
The installation was silent. A new icon appeared on his desktop: a golden compass with a cracked lens. He double-clicked.
Alex ripped the power cord from the wall. The screen went black. But the laptop hummed. And through the darkness, he could still see a faint, golden glow seeping from the cracks in the plastic casing.
