The Adventures of Buratino (Russian: Приключения Буратино ) is a 1936 Soviet children’s book by Alexei Nikolayevich Tolstoy , based on Carlo Collodi’s 1883 Italian classic The Adventures of Pinocchio . Tolstoy initially translated Collodi’s story but found it too moralistic and dark.
