It’s a psychological thriller. Ichigo’s despair, the betrayal, and the shocking return of the Gotei 13 (Rukia stabs Ichigo with a sword made of the captains’ reiatsu) is incredible. It ends with Ichigo getting his powers back and the phrase: "The Bleach is over."

The journey begins. Ichigo Kurosaki, a spiky-haired orange-head with a perpetual scowl, meets Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper who is injured while hunting a Hollow. To save his family, Ichigo absorbs her powers, becoming a substitute Shinigami. This season establishes the rules: Hollows, Soul Society (the afterlife), and Kon, the mod-soul stuffed lion.
